Speleologists Invited to Apply for International Expedition Funding
In a recent announcement dated October 3, 2023, the International Union of Speleology (UIS) has opened a new call for speleological events support, inviting applications for funding international expeditions or other events dedicated to the exploration, study, or protection of caves and karst.
The emphasis is on initiatives fostering educational, technical, and scientific cooperation.
All interested parties are required to ensure that their proposed events align with the UIS Statutes, Internal Regulations, and Code of Ethics.
Speleological expeditions must also involve participants from at least three different countries, failing which the requests will not be accepted.
Comprehensive details and conditions regarding speleological events support can be found in the Speleological Events Support Guidelines on the UIS website. For further inquiries, contact UIS Vice President of Administration, Zdenek Motycka, at z.motycka@mediform.cz.
The deadline for submission of applications is November 30, 2023. All requests received by this date will undergo evaluation by the UIS Bureau, with successful projects receiving support.
The UIS Bureau has allocated a maximum amount of 3000 EUR for this call, to be distributed among all approved projects. Requests submitted after the deadline will not be considered but may be resubmitted for the next call in 2024.
Applicants are required to submit their requests to UIS Secretary General Johannes Mattes at johannes.mattes@oeaw.ac.at before the November 30, 2023 deadline. Notification of the outcomes of the proposals is expected by the end of January 2024.
Sincerely,
Zdenek Motycka
UIS Vice President of Administration
